With LA MARIEE IRA MAL*, Jean-François D’Or challenges and transforms the gallery's architecture. Through polished brass lines that accentuate the space's contours, the artist structures it like punctuation marks on a blank page. These slender bands, alternately horizontal and vertical, act as "mural commas", inviting the eye to rest and contemplate.

At the heart of this installation, the metal becomes the medium of language. Discreet, almost mute, words are embossed into the thickness of the brass. They are no longer mere signs, but acquire volume, a skin, and an aura.

By playing with shadow and light, these words whisper a story to the walls. Sometimes placed high up or deliberately concealed, they elude immediate interpretation, becoming beacons of the imagination and leaving the visitor free to project their own meaning.

Each piece questions the power of language: can a single word trigger a story? Is it a signature, a definition, or a betrayal? Between architectural calligrams and silent signs, these works create a unique wall syntax. They remind us that, beyond the noise of the world, walls have a voice for those who know how to listen to their reflections.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 5 p.m., Jean-François D’Or presents a performance. He invites Thomas Gunzig to participate. In a twist, the writer reads a text written by the visual artist. Following this, Gunzig offers a performance in the form of an almost silent reinterpretation of the famous music video for Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues," filmed by D.A. Pennebaker in London on May 8, 1965. Rossicontemporary gallery, Brussels.
